The vaporisation of ZrF4 during the melting of ZBLAN glass

摘要：
Vaporisation of ZrF4 from solid ZrF4 was investigated at various temperatures. The rates of ZrF4 vaporisation during the melting of ZBLAN fluoride glass were determined at various temperatures. The vaporisation of ZrF4 from solid ZrF4 and from the glass mix was found to obey zero order and second order kinetics, respectively. The activation energy of ZrF4 vaporisation from solid ZrF4 and from the glass mix were also determined.
