Utilisation of rubber from worn automobile tires in cement products

摘要
The important issue of the deposit of worn tires from automobiles concerns even Greece according to relevant local laws issued lately. This paper presents the results from laboratory tests of rubberised mortars. Two sources of worn tires have been used, a Greek and a German one (GTR and DTR, respectively). Several physical and mechanical properties of these mortars have been studied. Despite the expected loss in mechanical properties, especially in big contents of worn tires, tests certify the capability of replacing part of aggregate (sand) with rubber. Results so far certify the use of rubber, in appropriate size and amount, in mortars and in cement products in general.
