Modelling of open and closed cellular foams

摘要
Porous foamed materials, like synthetic sponges and polymer or metal foams, are of great interest in all fields of engineering. The cellular micro structure gives these types of materials their outstanding mechanical characteristics. However, this complex structure demands for an appropriate model for the description ata suitable means of computational costs. The goal of this paper is to present an efficient continuum model based on the Theory of Porus Media (TPM) accounting for the porus cell structure and the occuring effects at large deformations. To set an example, the model is extended by a finite viscoelasticity law to describe the behaviour of even viscoelastic foams.
