摘要
Stress and Burnout in Bank Managers Introduction: Particularly in the banking sector, the economic crisis has caused a change in experience and behavior of employees. Subjectively perceived stress and the individual availability or lack of resources to healthily cope with stress affect the risk for developing burnout. Materials and Methods: In the present study, four concepts that can potentially affect the presence of burnout symptoms were investigated and analyzed: social support, organizational support, occupational self-efficacy and a proactive coping style. To review the question of how strong the influence of each factor to the burnout symptoms is, 2,300 bank employees were asked to complete an online questionnaire. Results: The results show that organizational support, i.e. the perceived appreciation and respect by the employer has the strongest influence on the development of burnout symptoms. Conclusion: Even in times of economic change, it seems essential that companies take care to give support and to display appreciation to their staff in order to reduce the prevalence of burnout.
