Preparation of Manganese Oxides-Modified Diatomite and Its Adsorption Performance for Dyes

摘要
The manganese oxides-modified diatomite adsorbent was prepared by in-situ method. The EDX, SEM and XRD techniques were employed to characterize the adsorbent. Its adsorption performance was studied by three kinds of dyeing wastewater. It shows that some hole sites with negative charge could be formed in the diatomite surface due to the NaOH pretreatment during the preparation, which was propitious to the dispersion of manganese oxides. The particle diameter of the composite adsorbent was about 11.23 mu m, and the spheric manganese oxides on the adsorbent were amorphous with 100 nm in diameter. The dye removal results show that the composite adsorbent has perfect adsorption performance for cationic dyes and reactive dyes.
