Synthesis and characterization of lanthanum hydroxide by hydrothermal method

摘要
Lanthanum hydroxide nanowires were successfully synthesized via hydrothermal method with lanthanum nitrate (La(NO3)(3)center dot nH(2)O) as precursors and KOH as mineralizer. The phase formation and morphology of the synthesized lanthanum hydroxide were investigated by XRD, SAED, and TEM. The formation mechanism of lanthanum hydroxide nanowires, as well as the effect of temperature on their morphologies were also discussed. The results indicate that lanthanum hydroxide grows along [100] axis because of great anisotropy. High temperature promotes crystallization of lanthanum hydroxide and longer nanowires are resulted.
