Resonant Half-Bridge Current-Inverter (RHBCI) used as Power Supply for Induction Lamps with High-Power-Factor and without Electrolytic Capacitors

摘要
This paper presents the use of the Resonant Half-Bridge Current-Inverter (RHBCI) as power supply for an induction fluorescent lamp, avoiding the use of electrolytic capacitors. The inductors of the RHBCI, are used to storage energy during the zero crossing of the input ac main voltage instead of to store it in electrolytic capacitors, in order to obtain high power factor and low total harmonic distortion (THD). Experimental results show a high power factor (95%), a THD less than 30% and compliance with the European standard 61000-3-2 class C. On the other hand, SiC devices are used in order to minimize the inverse recover time of the switches and obtain zero-current switching (ZCS).
