Diffusive ion acceleration at shocks: The problem of injection

摘要
The theory of ion injection at shocks developed earlier by the authors is now complemented by the consideration of particle trapping in the downstream region. The trapping mechanism is based on the interaction of particles with the large amplitude MHD-wave excited by the leaking ions. Injection spectra calculated in this way are in reasonable agreement with those obtained in the hybrid simulations. (C) 1998 COSPAR. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
