Mechanical properties of Mg-Si alloys

摘要
Mg-Si alloys are in-situ Mg matrix composites containing Mg,Si particles. The present paper describes the mechanical properties of Mg-Si alloys processed by ingot metallurgy (I/M) and rapid solidification (R/S) routes. The mechanical properties of the :VM Mg-Si alloys were improved by hot extrusion. The RIS Mg-Si alloys showed high strength of more than 500 MPa at room temperature. Furthermore the R/S Mg-Si alloys exhibited superplastic behavior at a high strain rate of 10(-1) s(-1). These excellent mechanical properties of the RIS Mg alloys were attributed to very small grain sizes.
