Some aspects of boar nutrition

The paper discusses various aspects of boar nutrition. Proper feeding may have a positive effect on the reproductive performance of boars. This group of animals is characterized by specific energy, protein and amino acid requirements. As long as they are fulfilled, we can expect boars to show a high level of libido and fertility, and to produce good-quality semen. Apart from basic nutrients (energy, protein), boars should also be provided with minerals, vitamins and some fatty acids. The role of particular nutrients in boar fertility has been investigated by very few authors. They report that a well-balanced diet can help to improve the fertilizing capacity of boars.
