Improved communication/computation infrastructure for better monitoring and control

摘要
This presentation shows that the 60s era design of the monitoring and control technology, of the electric power grid is inadequate to reliably operate the modern, more complex and deregulated power system of today. It shows how the new communication, computation and control technologies should be used to completely overhaul the information architecture so that fast, system-wide, automatic control can replace the manual and/or local control of today. In addition, such an information infrastructure will be less amenable to malicious attacks.
