摘要
We present a review of studies using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) of hydrogenated diamond surfaces. Almost without exception, single-crystal surfaces are required if quality atomic-scale resolution images are to be acquired. We show that the preparation procedure and especially the subsequent thermal treatment have important consequences for the surface conductivity of the diamond samples. We discuss the interaction of the diamond surfaces with molecules or other nano-objects with a view towards molecular electronics. Future experiments are proposed.
