Beginning with a minor detail, the substitution of a name from one version to the other of If This is a Man, and analysing the most significant additions to be found in the 1958 edition compared to the first edition (1947), this contribution looks at the question of "fiction" and that of the status of the characters in Primo Levi's most important work.
