Determination of the imaginary part of the complex refractive index and other optical parameters of a latex suspension in water in the visible spectral range

摘要
A method for determining the absorption coefficient K and the imaginary part of the complex refractive index kappa of polydispersion latexes based on the measurement of coefficients of diffuse reflection and transmission of layers of latex suspended in water is described. The accuracy of determination of these quantities is substantiated. The results of the reconstruction of the attenuation factor epsilon, the absorption coefficient K(lambda) and chi(lambda) in the visible spectral range are presented for latexes with modal diameters of 0.52, 0.58, and 1.02 mu m. The possibility for determining the volume concentration of particles from measurements of the absorption coefficient of a layer by the method proposed is demonstrated.
