Efficacy of Levonorgestrel-intrauterine Releasing System Combined with Goserelin in Treatment of Atypical Endometrial Hyperplasia

This study was designed to investigate the efficacy of levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) combined with goserelin in treatment of atypical endometrial hyperplasia (AEH). Ninety-eight AEH patients were divided into control and experimental groups, with 49 cases in each group. The control group was treated with goserelin. The experimental group received the LNG-IUS treatment on the basis of control group. The treatment was performed for three months. After three months of treatment, compared with control group, in experimental group the Pictorial Blood Loss Assessment Chart score, endometrial thicknes and serum levels of estrogens, inflammatory factors, human epididymal protein 4 and vascular endothelial growth factor were significantly decreased (p < 0.05). The one-year successful pregnancy rate in experimental group was significant higher than control group ( p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between two groups (p > 0.05). In conclusion, in treatment of AEH, LNG-IUS combined with goserelin can effectively regulate the excessive secretion of estrogens, reduce the levels of serum inflammatory factors and tumor related factors, thus obtaining better efficacy.
