MODERN METHODS FOR SEISMIC RETROFITTING OF EXISTING BUILDINGS SEISMICALLY VULNERABLE

Existing heritage buildings of any country with high seismic risk is undoubtedly a serious challenge. Made in different historical periods, with or without design codes, with resistance structures of various materials, they are overwhelmingly vulnerable while seismic or even gravity. Their consolidation by conventional solution is sometimes weighty and expensive. This paper try to presents parallel with conventional methods of buildings retrofitting some modern solutions for consolidation (based seismic isolation, tuned mass dampers, dampers, and so on).
