Effect of h-BN content on the sintering properties of SiC-YAG-BN multiphase ceramics

摘要
The SiC-YAG-BN multiphase ceramics were pressureless sintered with YAG as sintering addition and h-BN as weak phase. The effects of h-BN content on the bulk density, compositions and microstructure of multiphase ceramics were analyzed by XRD and SEM. The results show that the sintering density of the multiphase ceramics decreases and the porosity increases with the increase of h-BN content. The weak soakage between YAG and h-BN leads to the weak combination among h-BN, SiC and YAG, the h-BN with sheet shape forms bracket structure to restrain the sintering the ceramic; but it achieves the crack deflexion, crack deplete and microcrack to increase the toughness of the ceramic.
