摘要
Plant research conducted in space by commercial organizations could enhance the development of plant materials having superior characteristics and unique constituents for a wide range of agricultural, industrial, and medical applications. These commercial efforts will also include terrestrial application of controlled environment technologies that reduce the lime involved in making the new plant materials available in the marketplace. The international Space Station with its ability to support long duration plant experiments will be critically important to such commercial activities.
