Using pipeline for tight estimation of worst-case execution time in a real-time system

摘要
Predicting and estimating the execution time of a program is of utmost importance to real-time system designers. Failure in real-time system is due to not only the system producing the wrong output but also its taking more time than a pre-specified time to produce the output. This paper describes an algorithm for estimating an improved WCET (worst-case execution time) of a real-time program that utilizes a path generating approach to factor into the calculation the effects of processor pipelining. This method enhances the acquisition of tighter estimates.
