摘要：
In this paper, our interest will be focused on the interconnectedness between the know-how, offered by higher education, and the concept of innovation, understood in the broadest technological and social sense, in the catch up process. By presenting basic parameters with the SWOT analysis of the current situation in the higher education in Serbia, a whole range of problems with diverse characteristics is opened up. The general direction of future development in these countries will have to be grounded on permanent support for the activities in scientific research, development and innovation
