A model for on-demand media streaming oriented to traffic engineering

摘要
We propose a new model for on-demand media streaming centered on the peer-to-peer (P2P) paradigm. The proposed P2P model, which can support a large number of clients with a low overall system cost, organizes peers into clusters based on CIDR address and allows for peers to share some of their resources with the system. We present a new dispersion algorithm for disseminating the media files into the system and a searching algorithm for locating peers with the required objects. The simulation shows that the overall system cost in our proposed model is less than that of the randomly searching and on hop searching. Simulation results also show that the streaming quality in our system is better than that in the one other system.
