Dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumors

Dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumors (DNET) are rare benign brain tumors recently individualized They are members of a larger family of glial tumors. These tumors occur most commonly in children. Diagnosis is based on a combination of clinical (seizures before age of 20 years, partial seizures, no neurologic deficits), histological (aspect of glial tumor) and radiological (cortical and generally temporal lesion, no mass effect and no peritumoral edema) criteria. We report and discuss the case of an epileptic 15-year-old boy treated for resistant seizures. Brain CT and MRI revealed an expansive cortical mass in the fight temporal lobe without mass effect nor peritumoral edema. The histological study demonstrated a dysembryoplastic neuroepthelial tumor.
