摘要
This chapter is an overview presentation of the Particle Imaging Velocimetry (PIV) technique, actually widely used in hydraulics. This technique has the important advantage of measuring an entire velocity field nonintrusively. In particular, after a brief description of the historical development and the basic principles of the method, some representative applications of the PIV technique in hydraulic research are presented. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2011.
