A Multiband Slot Antenna for Wireless Communication Applications

摘要
The design of a multi-band slot antenna for different wireless communication services in S-band and C-band is presented. The antenna consists of a rectangular slot with an area of 0.37 lambda(g)x 0.14 lambda(g) =48 x 18 mm(2) (where lambda(g) is the guide wavelength), a T-shaped stub, and six E-shaped stubs to generate multiple frequency bands. The overall size of the antenna is less than those of multiband antennas studied in literature. The multiband slot antenna is studied and designed using HFSS EM Simulator. The prototype of the antenna is developed for verification of simulation results. The simulated and measured return losses, radiation patterns of the antenna are presented. The obtained results show that the antenna resonate multiple frequencies such as 1.7GHz for GPS systems, 2.45 GHz for IEEE 802.11b&g WLAN systems, 3.03GHz for S-band, 4.25 GHz, 4.90 GHz, 7.2 GHz for C-band and 9.3 GHz for X-band applications respectively.
