Radically different, even contradictory, ideologies about class, gender, nature, and culture have arisen in the wake of the Titanic disaster. Differences between the Romantic ideology of the film Titanic and accounts of the actual disaster provide insight into the human capacity for reorganization and recuperation after traumatic experience.
