Constituents of the Essential Oil and Antioxidant Activity of Extracts of Achillea eriophora from Iran

摘要
The genus Achillea belongs to the Compositae (Asteraceae) family. The essential oil of air-dried aerial parts of Achillea eriophora, an endemic taxon in Iran, were obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC-MS. The oil yield was 0.2 % (v/w). GC-MS analysis of the oil revealed 33 constituents. The most abundant components were oxygenated monoterpenes (87.35 %) represented principally by camphor (21.56 %). In this study the antioxidant activity of ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts of aerial parts of A. eriophora was evaluated for the first time by DPPH method which showed IC values of 89.3 and 245.2 mu g/ml respectively.
