Mathematical structure and its relationship to systemic thinking among students of mathematics departments in faculties of education

摘要
The present research aims to identify the nature of the correlation between the mathematical structure and systemic thinking among students of the mathematics departments in the Faculty s of education at the University of Baghdad and Al-Mustansiriya University. In order to achieve this objective, the following null hypotheses have been formulated: 1. There is no statistically significant difference at the significance level (0.05) between the hypothetical mean of the Mathematical Structure Test and the Arithmetic mean of the scores of the students of the basic research sample in general in the test of the mathematical structure. 2. There is no statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the hypothetical mean of the systemic thinking test and the Arithmetic mean of the scores of the students of the basic research sample in general in the Systemic Thinking Test. 3. There is no statistically significant correlation at the significance level (0.05) between the students' scores in the Mathematical Structure Test and the students' scores in the Systematic Thinking Test. The research sample consisted of (176) male and female students: (106) male and (70) female students from the third stage of the Mathematics Department in the Faculty s of Education for Pure Sciences - Ibn Al-Haytham and Al-Mustansiriya University. For the purpose of collecting data for the research, two tests have been built as follows: 1- The Mathematical Structure Test: In its final form, it consists of (40) test items of the multiple choice type. 2- The Systemic Thinking Test: it consists of (18) items of the essays type. The appropriate statistical analyzes were carried out using the statistical analysis program SPSS and the results indicated the following: - The Weakness in the extent to which students of the third stage, Department of Mathematics, the two faculties of Education, possess the mathematical structure as a whole under the scale adopted in the extent of possession of the test prepared to measure this structure. - The students of the third stage, Department of Mathematics, the two Faculties of Education, do not possess the skills of systemic thinking. - There is no correlation between the mathematical structure and systemic thinking among students of the Mathematics Department in the two Faculties of Education.
