Background: The construction of core competitiveness evaluation indexes system of private colleges and universities will directly show the competitive advantages of private colleges and universities. Students may be able to make targeted employment preparation before graduation according to this advantage, which will have an impact on their own symptoms of employment anxiety. Subjects and methods: The research team first constructed the evaluation index system of the core competitiveness of private colleges and universities. Then, several psychologists, employment anxiety tutors and psychological counselors were invited to participate in the research. They were asked to evaluate the rationality and scientific of the evaluation index system, rank the importance of each index in the system, and then put forward some countermeasures to alleviate students' employment anxiety according to the evaluation system. Finally, several students were selected from a domestic private university and divided equally into experimental group and control group. The experimental group was given employment anxiety guidance according to the suggestions, while the control group was only given routine guidance. SAS (Self-rating Anxiety Scale) test was required before and after guidance. Results: After the guidance, it was found that the total SAS scores of the two groups were statistically significant, and the average scores of the experimental group and the control group were 52.4 and 62.8 respectively, the former were 10.4 lower than the latter. Conclusions: This study constructs the evaluation indexes system of the core competitiveness of private colleges and universities. Group experiments were carried out according to the content of the indexes system. After the completion of the comparative experiment, the score of the experimental group is lower than that of the control group, and the difference is significant It shows that the analysis of the evaluation index system of the core competitiveness of private colleges and universities can provide students with reference employment guidance, which is helpful to alleviate students' employment anxiety.
