Realistic calculations for neutrino-nucleus reactions cross sections

We evaluate differential and integrated neutrino-nucleus reactions cross sections for low and intermediate neutrino energies (0MeV <= E-nu <= 100MeV). We investigate the dependence on the scattering angle and initial neutrino-energy of the Fermi and Gamow-Teller type transition rates. The required many-body nuclear wave-functions are calculated by utilizing the quasi-particle random phase approximation. The results presented refer to the neutral-current scattering of nu(e) on the nuclear isotopes O-16 and Mo-98 which play a significant role in astrophysical neutrino studies. By exploiting our exclusive cross sections, we explore the nuclear response for these detectors to supernova neutrinos assuming Fermi-Dirac distributions for the supernova neutrino spectra.
