An object-oriented framework for process synthesis and optimization

摘要
The Jacaranda system is part of an object oriented framework written in the Java language. This framework has been designed to support a range of synthesis and optimization activities in process engineering. Through the use of object oriented modelling techniques and the dynamic extension capabilities of the Java run-time environment, the framework is easily adapted for solving problems in different areas. Java provides a portable extensible environment with extra capabilities for distributed computing, object persistence and access to native code when required. This paper describes some of the main classes in the Jacaranda system and presents case studies which demonstrate the generic nature of the framework for process synthesis.
