摘要
Rate of gonorrhea and syphilis in the United States and Europe have declined dramatically in the last 30 years and are now at or near their lowest levels since World War II, while the prevalence of chlamydia trachomatis appears to be stable in areas with long-standing chlamydial screening programs. Further progress in the control of bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STI) is likely to require new approaches to prevention. This article summarizes recent, clinical and public health innovations in the control of STI.
