Optimal age and discrete replacement policies for a two-unit system with shock damage interaction

摘要
This paper considers a two-unit system that unit 1 failures occur according to a Poisson process. Each unit 1 failure cause a random amount of damage to unit 2. The repetition of unit 1 failures leads the system to failure when the total damage exceeds a specified level K. The failure of unit 1 is restored by minimal repair. The failed system is replaced by a new identical system. We derive the expected cost per unit time over infinite time operation. All optimal policy to minimize the expected cost rate is also discussed.
