Managing laboratory quality - A systematic approach

Laboratories need to manage and control their necessarily complicated work processes so that the correct examination is performed on the correct patient sample at the correct time with the correct results-each and every time. A systematic approach is needed for work process design, development, documentation, validation, implementation, monitoring, and improvement. This article overviews 2 quality management system guidelines published by the NCCLS.
