摘要
This article reports the results of an analysis of the citations of articles authored by leading social work faculties in the 1990s. Findings suggest that: (l)articles published during the decade by faculty at each of these schools have been cited regularly; however, (2) publications of some faculties have been cited Far more frequently than others; and (3) articles published in other than social work journals between 1990 and 1997 averaged almost three times the number of citations (M = 4.22) as articles published in social work's proprietary journals (M = 1.69). Moreover, three-fourths of all citations of articles attributed to the faculties of the four most productive social work faculties over the course of the decade were in non-social work journals. A specific agenda for future research targeted to understanding and explaining these trends is identified and recommended. (C) 2001 by The Haworth Press, Inc. All rights reserved.
