摘要:
Starting from the premise that any notion of identity is indescribable from the socio-political context, we proceed to observe the effect of adaptation on the conception of national identity through the comparison between Lope de Vega's The discreet lover; the libretto of the zarzuela Mrs. Francisquita; its premiere in Madrid in 1923 and, finally, the performance of Mrs. Francisquita in Miami in March 2019. First of all, it analyzes the musical historical context of the mid-nineteenth century, when the comedies of the Golden Age and in particular those of Lope de Vega are revalued, since "the Spanish" is perceived in them, and after the comparison, it ends with a reflection on the fluid notion of identity and its need for continuous negotiation.
