摘要
What is the relevance of global issues to the real estate appraiser in Topeka, Kansas; Oswestry, England; Wooloomooloo, Australia; or Xian, Peoples Republic of China? It is often difficult to make a connection between the traditional local markets and the e-driven global market. The issues facing many national valuation and appraisal societies and their members is whether they can do anything on behalf of their members to influence international events that could one day impact appraisers. Should they spend time and money attempting to influence global initiatives, or should they simply stand back and wait for change to happen? International events will, over time, affect national markets and, eventually, local markets. International appraisal methodologies and standards will percolate down to national and local appraisal standards. The time is right for national standard-setting bodies to influence what is happening internationally before it is too late.
