摘要
Thermal energy storage is essential for an effective development of concentrated solar power technologies. In this paper, a numerical investigation of a latent packed bed thermal energy storage system composed of spheres is presented. A continuous solid phase model has been used with an enthalpy formulation for the phase change process. The governing equations have been solved using a one-dimensional implicit method and the results have been validated through experimental work from a previous empirical study. The paper investigates the change of exergy in the charging phase with the mass flow rate, the inlet temperature of the fluid and the melting temperature of the PCM.
