摘要
The development of lithium-ion battery systems, a relatively new technology in comparison to conventional rechargeable battery systems, has encompassed an extensive number of design considerations. These considerations are based primarily on safety, performance and cost. In Part I we will discuss the design considerations for lithium-ion cells at a cell component level. In Part II we will focus on safety and abuse testing of lithium-ion cells. In future papers we will expand our discussion to cell assembly considerations including electrode and cell design, and manufacturing.
