This paper emphasizes researches performed in order to increase the energetic efficiency of heating processes, which are specific to industrial furnaces, by diminishing the heat losses through the refractory lining, due to the substitution of refractory materials moulded by usual means usual, with ceramic fibers. The advantages of using fibers are emphasized by calculus, in the case of a heat treatment furnace from Timpuri Noi Plant Bucharest, where one realized termotechnical measurements as well in the actual unmodified state, as based on the results obtained following furnace modernization. The results show that by using ceramic fiber provides fuel economies up to approximately 40% % as compared with the consumption in the case of furnaces with traditional refractory linings.
