Reaction of transition ions with the derivatives of maleic and oxamic acids containing a sterically hindered phenol

摘要
The reactions of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Ba(II) compounds with 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol-4-amidomaleic (I) and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol-4-oxamic (II) acids are investigated. Cobalt(II), nickel(II), and barium(II) form with I carboxylates of the ML2 . 2H(2)O composition presumably having a bridged structure. The reactions of copper(II) compounds with I, and of cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), and barium(II) compounds with II, are accompanied by the oxidative cleavage of ligands, resulting in metal maleates and oxalates as well as in the products of oxidation of the sterically hindered phenol fragment, namely, quinonemonoimine or bis(N,N'-quinonemonoimine).
