摘要
The 82-year-long history of searches for the neutrino mass is associated with the names of many prominent physicists. The aim of the KATRIN project is to set the upper limit on the effective electron antineutrino mass in tritium beta-decay at the level of 0.2 eV/c (2). The basic parameters of the setup are given. Measurements with nonradioactive gases are to be initiated in September 2016, and data taking with tritium should start in 2017. Possible experiments beyond the original KATRIN program are discussed.
