Through reform on rural compulsory education, invest a lot of funds to rural area, rural education in west of China had improved, but it still had some problems. We choose Zhaotong City form Yunnan province as sample to investigate the current condition and the problem of rural education. From investigation, we found that the main problem was lack of teacher in rural area, school consolidation cause big class and long distance for students, and the project implement can't fit the real needs of the local school. The reasons were mainly lies in government investment inadequate and low pay for rural teacher and lack of humanistic care. In order to promote rural education, the government must guarantee for education fund and increase it, rise treatment for teacher, improve rural teacher quality, give policy incline for rural small school and use distance education to make up the lack of teachers.
