摘要
As the World Wide Web (WWW) evolves towards an environment for commercial on-line service so too must its navigation systems. At present, users can choose from a selection of keyword-based search engines and hand-populated directories, These facilities provide crude but comprehensive navigation services. In the future. users will expect services that can recognise and distinguish between different types of service and can match the technical capabilities of their systems with those of the services. To do this, navigation systems, indeed the WWW as a whole, must introduce kev elements of a service architecture.
