Transformation process in the Czech republic and marital relations

Families in the Czech republic experience stress owing to the transformation process. The study documents that family relations influence the impact range of the economical pressure on the family stability. The investigation was realised in the years 1994 - 1996 (three waves); the data were obtained from 740 households. The statements of both spouses were processed separately - starting from the economical pressure in 1994 to instability of marital relations in 1996. The economical pressure irritated marital couples in 1994 what resulted in problem behaviour and hostility against the spouse in 1995, namely in men. In 1996, the instability of marriage: in men was influenced by hostility of their wives and in women it was connected with problem behaviour of their husbands.
