Probing nuclear parton densities and parton energy loss processes through photon plus heavy-quark jet production in p-A and A-A collisions

摘要：
We present a detailed phenomenological study of the associated production of a prompt photon and a heavy-quark jet (charm or bottom) in proton-nucleus (p-A) and nucleus-nucleus (A-A) collisions. We show that future p-A data to be collected at the LHC should allow one to disentangle the various sets currently available. In A-A collisions, the photon transverse momentum can be used to gauge the initial energy of the massive parton which is expected to propagate through the dense QCD medium produced in those collisions, as shown by the present phenomenological analysis carried out in Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC.

  • [10] Latest results on jet suppression aCMS has performed a wide range of jet measurements in heavy-ion collisions. A selection of newest results in this field is presented. New results of the nuclear modification factor RAA from XeXe collisions are compared to the previous results from PbPb collisions to study system size dependence of the energy loss. Energy loss in PbPb collisions is studied more differentially by measuring radial momentum distributions with inclusive jets. The dependence of parton flavor to energy loss is studied with photon-tagged jet shapes and by correlating tracks from reconstructed D0 particles to the jet axis. Finally groomed jet substructure results for shared momentum fraction zg and jet mass Mg are presented to go deeper into the details of energy loss mechanisms.nd jet substructure in heavy-ion collisions with CMS
