Pharmacological techniques for the in vitro study of the vas deferens

The isolated vas deferens has been, and continues to be, a valuable preparation for pharmacological and physiological studies of the neuroeffector junction. There are hundreds of papers in the literature using this preparation, most of which include techniques that are similar to the ones described herein. Obviously, in an article such as this not all of the fine techniques that have been developed can be given justice, and naturally we have relied heavily on our own experience in describing these methods. For those wishing to use the vas deferens for their research or teaching, we hope our comments prove to be useful.
