Research on the Relationship Between Electricity Consumption and Economic Growth Based on the Quantile Regression

摘要
Study the relationship between the electricity consumption and the economic growth in the different speed rate. Also, we come up with quantile regression method to study the Granger causality of the different sub-site between electricity consumption and economic growth in the two variables. The method includes the unit root test of time series, cointegration, quantile error correction model settings and Granger causality test and other steps. The results showed that: Quantile Regression, when the economic growth rate is 50% and above, electricity consumption growth is the short-term Granger cause of economic growth, when the economic growth rate is 75% and above, electricity consumption growth is the long-term Granger causes of economic growth. Electricity consumption growth is long-term Granger cause of economic growth under ordinary regression. Thus, the proposed method of verification is more sophisticated and accurate than the classical regression.
