Nano- and microparticles characterisation using Brownian diffusion measurements

摘要
A new method for the determination of hydrodynamic dimensions of the nano- and microparticles in magnetic fluids and colloidal dispersions as polluted waters is presented. It is based on the Brownian translational dispersion of a fluid drop containing the particles in the basic liquid. The drop transparencies in different points and at different moments of time are measured and their values are introduced in an established equation set governing the system evolution. The equation set is numerically solved for several samples of magnetic fluids and water wastes. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
