摘要
As a leading figure of contemporary British diaspora writing, Rushdie engages with the construction of the complex ethical identities of the immigrants and the diaspora communities in the new world. His novel The Golden House exposes the predicament of the displacement and negotiation of individual ethical identity, with the clue of the Goldens' family who has encountered the challenges of ethical choice after moving to American metropolis New York, from which Rushdie tries to reveal the diaspora communities' perception of home and quest of cultural identity. Meanwhile, Rushdie outlines a pluralistic, fluid and dialogic view of ethical identity politics through the de-territorialization of the western imperial center of power and authority as well as the reconstruction of the rational social order, aiming to ponder and put out the vision of ethical community in the multicultural and global discourse.
