摘要
The data gained from radar is enormous, which produces huge difficulties for high-speed transfers and real-time storage in modern radar systems. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image compression is very important in reducing the costs of data storage and transmission. A new compression scheme is proposed, which is composed of a multilayered image representation, contourlet and SPECK compression scheme. First, the SAR image is separated into cartoon and texture map using non-linear diffusion filter, then the SPECK and contourlet coding methods are used to code the two layers independently. Experimental results show that our method outperforms JPEG, SPIHT and other compression methods on the SAR image.
